A member of the Quebec Bar since 2002, Mtre. Catanu is experienced in contractual disputes, injunctions, corporate and securities litigation, shareholders’ rights, class actions, general civil liability and professional malpractice claims. He has pleaded before the Superior Court of Quebec and Court of Appeal, as well as before arbitration panels and administrative tribunals. Recent representative work includes key roles in files such as the litigation surrounding the proposed $52 billion privatization of BCE Inc., in which the firm represented the buy-out consortium, the related $1.2 billion litigation in which BCE is claiming the reverse Break-Up Fee from the buyers, the litigation surrounding the restructuring of the $32 billion Asset-Backed Commercial Paper market, as well as various injunction proceedings.
