Eric Bédard named a 2022 Lexpert Rising Star

Woods is proud to have one of its partners, Eric Bédard, named one of Lexpert’s Rising Stars 2022, the most promising lawyers in Canada aged 40 and under. This annual gala celebrates legal talent and is the result of a rigorous review process by a jury of corporate counsel and managing partners from prominent law firms. Besides legal skills, this award recognizes the leadership, teamwork, and dedication to client satisfaction of the recipients.

Eric represents private and public businesses in commercial and corporate disputes, disputes regarding financial services, and disputes involving mining and gas companies. He is often called upon to advise senior employees or employers on all aspects of employment termination. His expertise also extends to domestic and international arbitration. His experience includes acting for Canada in the NAFTA Chapter XI arbitration Lone Pine v. Canada and representing parties, serving as Tribunal Assistant, and sitting as sole arbitrator in both ad hoc and institutional arbitration proceedings. Eric was appointed to the Arbitration Place’s NextGen Roster of Arbitrators in 2021 and is a member of the ICC Canada’s Arbitration Committee. He is an executive of the Young Canadian Arbitration Practitioners (YCAP)’s as VP – Education & Events and a North American Representative for the ICC Young Arbitration & ADR Forum (YAAF). A regular author and speaker on evidence, civil procedure, and international arbitration, Eric also remains involved with his alma mater, McGill University, through teaching and mentoring.
